Friday of the Twenty Ninth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

“Jesus said to the crowds,When you see a cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does; and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?’” With today’s advanced technology, we can precisely predict upcoming weather conditions. If there is a hurricane coming, we know when it will hit, so people have time to evacuate and take shelter. According to upcoming weather predictions, we know how to dress, where to travel and how to get prepared. But Jesus is warning us that in a similar way we should get prepared for meeting with God and for the day of judgment. We want to know what kind of weather is coming and be prepared for that, but it is far more important knowing that God’s judgment is coming and be prepared for that day.
