Yesterday was the feast of the Exaltation of The Cross, and today the Church celebrates the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows. Yesterday our eyes were fixed on the cross and today on what was under the cross. And under the cross was the Mother of Jesus crying, weeping, not being able to help her dying Son. In the moments of sadness, we need each other, we need a friend, we need a brother or sister, a parent, someone who can be there, hold us, help ease our pain. Jesus knew this too and that’s why “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, Woman, behold, your son. Then he said to the disciple, Behold, your mother.” And today Jesus addresses the same words to us -- this is your Mother. Take her with you, to your home, to your family. She understands, she knows, and she experienced pain too. Make her your Mother; with her it will be easier. Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.
