We all know that in order to grow, to learn, to accomplish things in life, we need to work for it. Nothing comes for free. Athletes, for example, need to spend countless hours exercising their bodies, eating properly to advance in competitions. If you want to get a promotion at your job and get paid more, you need to work for that and prove to your boss that you deserve the promotion. And that is also the case when it comes to our spiritual life. Our baptism is a great start to our spiritual journey. However, we can’t stop there. We need to grow, we need to learn, we need to deepen our faith and relationship with God. This is why Jesus addressed this parable about the talents that need to be multiplied not buried in the ground. One day the Master will return and will settle his account with us. “For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
