Monday of the 5 week of Lent

Every Thursday in our church we have all-day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We expose Jesus in the monstrance, put it on the altar so people can come during the day and pray. We conclude with the blessing and benediction at 7:00 PM, which is when most people come. However, during the winter months, we experienced more people missing, and a couple of them told me that they won’t come in the evening because is already dark, and they don’t drive after sunset. This is something I haven’t thought about. We all need light to follow, otherwise we risk an accident, may get lost, or simply fail if there is no light. Today Jesus reminds us that similarly we need a good light to follow in our spiritual life, and Jesus is that light. Without Him, we get lost or even injure ourselves by sin. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Jesus is the only light, the only truth.
