Monday of the Second Week of Advent ‘b’

There are two important things that we can learn from today’s gospel story. First, that this poor paralyzed man would not have been able to get close to Jesus if it weren’t for the help of his persistent friends. They did everything they could in order to get him close to the Lord. Our mission is similar -- we must do everything we can to bring to the Lord those who have gotten lost, those who stopped going to church, those who have never heard about Him. We must be persistent and always try to bring others to Jesus. We should tell them that He can heal all our wounds. Secondly, before Jesus healed that man’s physical body, He first said “your sins are forgiven”. For Jesus, it is more important that we have a clean and healthy soul rather than a perfect body. Ask Him for healing, not only for a healthy body, but ask Him to heal your soul and forgive your sins.
