Monday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary time ‘c’

Jesus knows well that no proof and no sign would change a stubborn and skeptical heart. He is not a magician who performs some kind of a show to gain popularity and earn some money. Christ is the Son of God and He proved that already. There were those who didn’t need more proof than His word, and they believed. Still there would be those that no matter what sign, what proof would be provided to them, they will not believe. If God wanted, He could reveal everything to us, however more important to Him is our faith. That’s why Jesus reminds us often to keep faith and to ask for an increase of faith. There will be people in your life too who will ask you to prove to them that what you practice and believe is real. I often answer that I don’t need proof nor signs; I simply need faith. “Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.’ He said to them in reply, ‘An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.’”
