Monday of the Twenty Forth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

The centurion from our gospel reading today expresses great faith, humility, and love. A man of power who cared for his slave so very much. Why bother? many would say. He can have as many slaves as he wants, so why this concern about this one dying slave? But no, that centurion shows that he cares about another human being and want him well and healthy. Not only that, but the centurion also admits that he is unworthy to have Jesus in his home. So, with faith and humility, he asks the Lord: Please “say the word and let my servant be healed.” In the end, Jesus said: "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith." We can learn so much from that centurion, but especially three things: love for another person, humility, and faith. Lord, say only one word and my soul will be healed too.
