Saturday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

There will be people who might try to convince us to change our minds and plans, and to do something that – in their opinion -- would be better for us. They might say: Don’t marry that person because they are not good for you; don’t go to that school, go to another; or don’t buy this or that. And some of these pieces of advice might be good, valuable. They might be given to us by people who really care, so we should always consider their advice. However, we should never listen to anyone who would try to tell us that praying and practicing our faith is useless, or that God doesn’t exist. These kinds of advice come from the evil one. We are called to holiness, and no matter what, we should pursue that goal, despite all temptations. They tried to discourage even Jesus on His way to Jerusalem. They wanted to kill Him even before His crucifixion, but He knew that He still must continue His mission until the appointed time came. “This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet.”
