Saturday of the Thirty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

Jesus said: “Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.” Two things: be vigilant and pray. What does it mean? Jesus wants us to be aware at all times of the coming end of the world. Not only the world around us, but we should be mindful of our own death and how we live in this world. No, Jesus does not want to make us scared. He only wants us to be humble and to be aware that God gave us our life, and only He knows when He will end it here. For then we will stand before the Son of Man. Being aware also means keeping a strong faith and following Jesus’ teaching. And then we need to pray, we need to talk to God often and ask Him to help us be prepared, be watchful, and be ready. No, nobody is perfect; we all make mistakes and we all sin. But we should pray asking God to forgive us and make us ready to stand before the Son of Man -- when He comes here or when we come to Him.
