Saturday of the Twenty Third Week in Ordinary time ‘c’

Sadly, there are people who come to mass on Sunday, say their prayers, receive Holy Communion, recite the Lord’s prayer, and ask God for favors and blessings. But after leaving the church, they forget what a disciple of Jesus’ life should look like. Jesus teaches us to be loving, truthful, forgiving, compassionate, honest, humble, and to give a good example to the world of who we are. But some of us Christians tend to forget about this and instead of attracting others to God, we turn them away. That’s why Jesus reminds us today: “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?” We can’t only admit that Jesus is the Lord with our lips in our prayers, but we need to prove it -- that we truly are his disciples by following His commandments.
