Solemnity of All Saints

There are things that we buy that come in boxes and then need to be assembled. Sometimes the process of putting it together is very simple and easy, but many times you probably need a manual that you would follow step by step to finish the project. I am not the best at assembling things, so almost all the time I need to follow the manual. Today we celebrate the Solemnity of All the Saints -- meaning, not only one saint, not only those famous saints that we know, but today is a day to also celebrate the saints that we have never hear of or their names were not officially recognized by our church. Today is also a day to think about our own call to become saints. So, how do we do that? What is the best description of saint? What should we do to join those saints in heaven? The answer can be found in today’s gospel reading where Jesus gives us the manual that we need to follow in order to become saints. Just read it carefully, not once, not twice, but many times. Make of it a prayer and a meditation. Blessed are you when…” for your reward will be great in heaven.”
