The Sixth Day in the Octave of Christmas ‘b’

I have noticed that in my neighborhood the Christmas decorations are almost gone. This society wants us to quickly forget what just happened -- the Nativity of the Lord. It rushes us to another holiday, to spend more money. But Christmas is not about the decorations, food, or gifts. It is about the announcing to the world of the birth of the Messiah. We are called to tell those who are lost, sad, broken that God came to us with love and forgiveness, to bring all of us joy. All of the Christmas decorations will become history soon. But for us, like for prophetess Anna, the joy of the Nativity should last forever and be announced to others. “And coming forward at that very time, she (Anna) gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.”
