“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” This is one of the instructions that Jesus gave his disciples right before He sent them to proclaim the good news. This particular instruction reminds me that we don’t need much in order to continue that mission. You and I are also called to proclaim the good news, to proclaim about Jesus. But there are times when we make excuses like -- this is not for me, this task was entrusted to priests, to nuns to religious. I have no knowledge, no education, no preparation. This is not my job. But Jesus reminds us today that this is everybody’s Job, everybody who call him- or herself a Christian. And we don’t need any special equipment or skills to talk about Jesus. No food, no sack, no money, and no more excuses…
