Thursday of the 5 week in ordinary time ‘c’

Never give up on your prayer requests. In the end, it is up to God to decide whether to grant you what you are asking for, or not. And if He decides not to answer your prayers, it doesn’t mean that He wants to punish you for something -- not at all! He simply knows what is best for you and me, but sometimes what we are asking for may seem very important to us, but not necessarily to God. He knows better. But never give up. Try to explain to Him why you are asking for that particular thing – for instance safety, healing, protection for someone you love. It seems to me that Jesus almost said to that poor woman from the Gospel: I didn’t come for you, I came to my chosen people, so let me serve them first and then I will see if I have time and energy, then I may help you. But she didn’t give up. She was persistent, she was able to argue with Jesus, to explain -- and that’s what Jesus liked. The healing of her possessed daughter was so important to her that she had nothing to lose. “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps. Then he said to her, for saying this, you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter.” Never give up on your prayer requests.
