Tuesday of the 1 week of Lent

Some people like to pray long prayers and they often repeat their prayer requests. However, today Jesus reminds us that when we pray, we must go right to the point, be very specific, tell God what you need. I like this Gospel reading for today. Jesus teaches us how to pray. He tells us what we should be asking for in our prayers. What I find especially interesting is not so much what we pray for, but that God wants us to be very specific, detailed, and to get right to the point. “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Indeed, God knows what you are about to ask Him for, even before you open your mouth and pray. Be brief, be specific, and do not babble too much.
