Tuesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

It is a treasure to have a good friend or friends. We all know what a friend is – it is that person that you feel a close connection with, a person that is always there for you, someone that you share similar interests with and can talk about them. A good friend is a person that you are happy to spend time with and you are not afraid to share any secrets with that person, because you know the whatever it might be, he or she will not reject you. A friend could be anyone -- young or old, male or female, brother or sister, mother or father -- anyone. Not everyone can be a brother or sister to you, but anyone could become a good friend. Jesus said today: “For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.” I believe that Jesus is trying to tell us that we can become His friends only if we share the same interests, namely, to do the will of God. We become His brothers and sisters and His friends only when we follow the will of our Lord.
