Tuesday of the Twenty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Jesus is always here to bring us comfort in our moments of trouble. However, His comfort is not always exactly what we would like at that particular moment. We need to pray and ask Him to help us to be able see what grace He is giving us in our moments of pain and sadness. In the gospel reading today, Jesus brings comfort to a widow who just lost her son, by bringing her son back to life. We all lose people that we loved, and we too would prefer that the Lord restore them back to life. But this doesn’t generally happen. In those moment of sadness, grieving, and perhaps even anger, we need to keep asking for deeper faith and trust that God knows what He is doing. He is there to comfort us, but not always in the way we want Him to help us. He knows what is best for us and for the person that has died. One day we will understand.
