Wednesday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

The parable about the sower who went out to sow -- we all know this parable very well. We also understand the meaning of this parable, namely that we need to take care of the seed of God’s word that was planted in us and make it grow and multiply. But there is something else here that catches my attention -- that the sower is very generous in spreading the seed. I picture my grandfather who lived on a farm and in the springtime, he would go out to the field to spread the seeds. Back then, they didn’t have advanced technology and machines that did all the work. My grandfather had a bucket filled with seed and would use his hands to grab the seed and spread it all around the field. I believe God is like that. God is so generous and wants everyone to be touched by His word, by His grace -- good and sinners alike. However, it is up to us as to how we receive His generous gift. It is up to us what we will do with that seed that fell into our soul. We can receive it with joy and let it grow, or we may ignore it.
